Day 41/365: Seneca on new days

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.
41/365: Seneca on new days
“Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life.” – Seneca
What happened yesterday doesn’t matter. What will happen tomorrow doesn’t matter. Today is all we have. And if we’re lucky, tomorrow’s a new start—a separate life as Seneca called It.
Our days daisy chain together, but each next moment represents a chance to lay a new, stronger link.
The past financial decisions don’t matter. They’re from an old life. They’re gone.
Same with the future uncertainty. We spend an awful lot of time shaking our heads between the past and the future. And in doing so, we skip right over the present moment.
Live well today, it’s all we have.
But note, Seneca isn’t telling us to scrap our plans, or spend all our money today. Rather to not be too busy flipping pages of an irrevocable book, trying to hurry through the plot unaware of our unchangeable error.
