Day 54/365: Marcus Aurelius on future battles

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.

54/365: Marcus Aurelius on future battles

“Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.” – Marcus Aurelius

Bad things have happened to us all. And when they’ve come, we’ve leaned into them and handled them in the present.

We can’t battle an event that hasn’t occurred because it doesn’t exist. But if it were to arise, we can fight with the tools we have.

How would you cope if markets crashed, your portfolio was cut in half, your home value plummeted, you lost your job, your car broke down?

You’d find a way, you always have.
