Day 58/365: Epictetus on slowing down

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.

58/365: Epictetus on slowing down

“Deliberate much before saying or doing anything, for you will not have the power of recalling what has been said or done.” – Epictetus

What if we slowed the speed of our decisions?

Not to the point of indecisiveness, but thoughtfulness.

We can’t take back what we say and we can’t take back what we do.

It’s why Charlie Munger said,Remember that reputation and integrity are your most valuable assets—and can be lost in a heartbeat.”

In an instance of bad judgement, we can immediately undo decades of progress. It goes for what we say, it goes for what we do.
