Day 21/365: Seneca on aims

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.
21/365: Seneca on aims
“If a man knows not to which port he sails, no wind is favorable.” – Seneca
Just as a sailor needs a destination to make use of the wind, we need clarity about why we seek wealth and what we hope it will facilitate in our lives.
Don’t let the tides and winds of societal expectations draw you to whatever coast they so choose. Chart your own course with a clear and compelling aim.
Without this direction, we push our ultimate destination to chance, an external force, and hope we end up somewhere good.
Ask yourself today, what “ports” are guiding how you earn, save, spend, invest, give?
Are you using your resources to build a life of significance, or are you adrift in the endless, aimless pursuit of more?
