Day 61/365: Marcus Aurelius on dancing like a puppet

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.
61/365: Marcus Aurelius on dancing like a puppet
“It’s time you realized that you have something in you more powerful and miraculous than the things that affect you and make you dance like a puppet.” – Marcus Aurelius
We get stuck in systems that drag us like a powerful current. Submerged in the day-to-day, unaware of the strings that dictate our moves.
It’s not that we can’t create new systems, we don’t because it’s easier to stay with the status quo.
Marcus Aurelius is reminding us to see the strings, step out of the current, and wake up our dormant agency.
All these financial systems swirl around and pull at us. The questions we must ask today:
Are the systems getting me where I want to go?
Am I pulling the strings or someone else?
