Day 80/365: Marcus Aurelius on your own actions

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.
80/365: Marcus Aurelius on your own actions
“How much time he gains who does not look to see what his neighbor says or does or thinks, but only at what he does himself, to make it just and holy.” – Marcus Aurelius
There’s a lot of noise and action that exists outside of our own lives. By nature of the sheer numbers, we are but a blip in our local ecosystems.
So there’s a constant swirl of change and upgrade and positioning that goes on outside of us. When we look to this for guidance, we get dizzy with desire. The keeping up ensues, as does unhappiness.
Focus on the internal locus of control, on what you do, and make it just and holy as Marcus Aurelius suggested.
