Day 82/365: Seneca on gifts

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.

82/365: Seneca on gifts

“A gift consists not in what is done or given, but in the intention of the giver or doer.” – Seneca

You don’t have to enjoy great wealth to be generous, you don’t need any wealth at all.

Generosity is in the intent.

Is the intent a tax write off or to help?

Is the intent in volunteering time to help, or being seen as someone that is a volunteer?

The best gifts come without strings, they originate from raw generosity.
