Day 67/365: Seneca on uncertain futures

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.

67/365: Seneca on uncertain futures

“The whole future lies in uncertainty: live immediately.” – Seneca

The future is uncertain. Whether that uncertainty brings good results or bad results is a matter of concern for our future selves.

Our charge is to live immediately with what we presently have.

Even the little micro future minded moments cause us to live in the tension of uncertainty, to live in exile from the present.

I wonder how the market will open.

I wonder how that meeting will go.

These innocent ponderings take us from the immediate moment.
