Day 121/365: Epictetus on Good and Evil

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.
121/365: Epictetus on Good and Evil
“Where is Good? In our reasoned choice. Where is Evil? In our reasoned choices. Where is that which is neither Good nor Evil? In the things outside of our own reasoned choice.” – Epictetus
Our own projection of Good and Evil belong in the field of our own reasoned choice.
No one provoked anger or forced a response. It was our doing. The decision always belongs to us.
Today we have a decision, a reasoned choice, to be a force for Good or a force for Evil, just as Epictetus noted—everything else is beyond our choice and therefore control.
