Day 124/365: Marcus Aurelius on the equality of death

Welcome to The Stoic Ledger, a daily money meditation from one of the Stoic sages.
124/365: Marcus Aurelius on the equality of death
“Both Alexander the Great and his mule-keeper were brought to the same place by death—they were either received into the all-generative reason, or scattered among the atoms.” – Marcus Aurelius
Death brings an equal end to the wealthy and the poor, the sick and the healthy, the famous and the unknown.
Death doesn’t care if you had money or prestige, if you led people or were led by people; your bones and mine become fossils in this Earth’s crust.
Social status and positioning may appear relevant now, but we’re dead a lot longer than we’re alive. So let’s remember today to lead good lives and be kind because the trinkets tarnish and death indiscriminately takes what was never ours.
